Cricket's Three Formats and Favourite Tournaments
Three formats each matter in their own way for cricket betting — T20, ODI and Test. Betting styles and approaches differ across them because the duration and pace of play are completely different.
T20: The fastest format. With the match wrapped up in just 20 overs, every ball counts. BPL and IPL are played in this format, and it is the most popular among Bangladeshi fans. The T20 World Cup is also a major event that brings together teams from around the world.
ODI: In a 50-over match the pace is relatively measured, but a wicket or partnership in the middle overs can change everything. The ICC World Cup is played in the ODI format.
Test: In this five-day format, patience, pitch behaviour and shifting conditions make betting multi-layered. Series winner and session-based markets are most popular in Test cricket.
Every international match featuring Bangladesh Tigers, plus BPL and IPL seasons — detailed markets for all these events are available at pvc.
Football and Other Sports Markets
Alongside cricket, pvc also offers football betting. Where cricket has detailed markets like toss or wicket fall, football mainly features markets such as match winner, scoreline and goalscorer.
In football, a draw counts as a separate outcome (three-way market), but in limited-overs cricket there is generally no draw — one of two results applies, so pricing works differently.
Markets are also available for sports like Kabaddi, Badminton and Tennis, though in Bangladesh most betting activity is centred on cricket and football.
For those interested in combining markets from multiple sports, there is a detailed guide on the multi-bet page.
Popular Betting Markets and Examples
Below is a plain-language explanation of how each market works.
Match Winner
Choose which of the two teams will win. Example: if team A wins your bet is successful, if team B wins you lose. This is the most straightforward market in limited-overs cricket.
Toss Winner
Choose in advance which team will win the toss. The outcome is entirely independent — pitch conditions or form have no bearing on the toss.
Top Batsman
Choose which batter will score the most runs in a specific innings or across the full match. This market is available separately for each team.
Total Runs — Over/Under
Choose whether the runs scored will be more (over) or fewer (under) than a set line. Example: over 75 runs in the first 10 overs — selecting over means your bet wins if 75+ runs are scored.
Multi Bet
Combine bets from multiple matches into a single bet. You collect the full return only if every selection is correct. Learn about the detailed rules for multi-bet.
Series Winner
You can choose which team will win the full series before it begins. This is a long-term market — the result comes days or weeks later.
How to Read Odds — Three Formats
Odds are written in three different ways — decimal, fractional and American. All three express the same probability, but they look different. The example below explains the difference.
| Format | Price for Team A to Win | Return on a ৳1,000 Bet |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.50 | ৳2,500 (profit ৳1,500) |
| Fractional | 3/2 | ৳2,500 (profit ৳1,500) |
| American | +150 | ৳2,500 (profit ৳1,500) |
Example 1: Team A's odds to win are 2.50 in decimal, 3/2 in fractional and +150 in American — all three are the same. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳2,500 if team A wins (including stake), meaning ৳1,500 profit. If team A loses, you lose ৳1,000.
Example 2 (favourite): Team B's odds to win are 1.25 in decimal, 1/4 in fractional and -400 in American. American minus odds show how much stake is needed to win 100. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳1,250 if team B wins (only ৳250 profit) — because team B is the favourite.
The higher the decimal number, the less likely the win but the greater the potential profit. The same applies when the numerator is larger in fractional odds. In American odds, plus (+) means underdog, minus (−) means favourite.

Live In-Play Betting — Conditions Shift Every Over
You can still place bets after the match has started — that is live in-play betting. With every wicket, boundary or maiden over, the odds shift and markets update.
Say the first team is batting slowly and has lost 3 wickets in 10 overs — the match winner odds for that team may lengthen, while the other team's odds shorten. Betting in-play lets you take advantage of these shifting prices.
In-play is especially fast-moving in T20, where the momentum of a match can completely turn within 6 balls. In ODI and Test, new markets open up with each session or powerplay.
Live markets need to be followed closely — picking markets you understand is better than rushing into a decision. Betting is entertainment, so staying within your budget matters.
Practical Approaches to Cricket Betting
A few common habits can make the betting experience more organised and enjoyable:
- Set a fixed budget and make a habit of not going beyond it — betting for entertainment means staying within a safe limit.
- Among T20, ODI and Test, focus on the format you understand best — spreading across all markets at once is not ideal.
- Live betting is engaging, but rapid changes can be confusing — take a moment before placing a bet.
- In a multi-bet you win only if every selection is correct, so keep the risk in mind before combining too many selections.
- Build your own view of a team's or player's recent form — but that does not guarantee a win.
- Those who want to play responsibly are encouraged to read the responsible gaming policy.
Test vs T20 Betting
In Test cricket, pitch behaviour, weather and time of day influence the odds. In T20, the powerplay and death overs are two entirely different betting moments.
In ODI, the middle overs require you to watch run rate and wickets together — if either shifts, the market moves quickly.
About Multi-Bet
Combining three bets at odds of 1.60, 1.70 and 1.80 gives a combined multi-bet odd of 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.90 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳490 if all three are correct — but if any one is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
